THAN 2 MINUTES TO DRY....
PICKING UP TINY OBJECTS: USE THE TIP OF YOUR FINGER TO SLIDE THE ITEM TO THE EDGE OF THE TABLE THEN USE THUMB AND FORE FINGER OR DROP INTO PALM OF HAND TO PICK THE ITEM UP.
USE KNUCKLES NOT NAILS: WHEN OPENING CAR DOORS, SODA POP CANS, OR OTHER THINGS THAT YOU MIGHT BE TEMPTED TO USE YOUR NAILS. TRY USING YOUR KNUCKLES INSTEAD. ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT YOUR NAILS ARE NOT TOOLS AND THEY ARE NOT INDISTRUCTABLE.
USE SCISSORS TO OPEN BAGS OR BOXES, DO NOT PUNCTURE BAGS OR BOXES WITH NAILS...THIS WILL BREAK THEM FOR SURE!.
USE A COIN TO HELP OPEN SODA POP CANS
USE KNUCKLES TO BUTTON UP CLOTHING...IF YOU USE YOUR NAIL THE BUTTON CAN CATCH ON THE NAIL AND BREAK IT.
WHEN REMOVING JEWELRY TRY TO USE YOUR KNUCKLES OR ASK SOMEONE TO OPEN THE CLASP FOR YOU. NAIL WILL BREAK FOR SURE IF YOU TRY TO USE THEM TO OPEN CLASPS AND REMOVE EARRING BACKS. IF THEY DON'T BREAK THEY WILL AT LEAST START LIFTING FROM THE PRESSURE AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS...AN EARLY TRIP AND UNNECESSARY EXPENSE OF GETTING YOUR NAILS REDONE EARLY..
WHEN POLISHING NAILS ALWAYS LET NAILS DRY COMPLETELY BEFORE APPLYING ANOTHER COAT. IF YOU APPLY A NEW COAT ONTO WET OR SEMI WET NAILS THE DRYING WILL TAKE TWICE AS LONG AND KEEP THE NAIL POLISH SOFT ON THE NAILS FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME. IF YOU WAIT UNTIL THE NAIL POLISH IS COMPLETELY DRY THE NEW COAT WILL DRY MUCH FASTER.
PANTYHOSE WILL SNAG IF YOU USE YOUR NAILS...AS WE ALL KNOW PANTYHOSE WILL SLIDE DOWN THE LEG WHEN YOU ARE WEARING THEM..YOU WILL BE TEMPTED TO USE YOUR FINGERS TO PULL THEM BACK UP...BUT I HAVE A SUGGESTION.....SIMPLY WET HANDS AND LAY FLAT ON THE SIDES OF YOUR LEG WHERE THE SAGGING IS...THEN PUT PRESSURE AND USE THE PALM OF YOUR HANDS TO WORK THE PANTY HOSE BACK UP THE LEG. THEN WHEN YOU ARE ADJUSTING THE WAIST USE KNUCKLES..NOT THE NAILS!
NEVER USE YOUR NAILS AS A SCRAPER~ REMOVE TAGS WITH A BUTTER KNIFE...AND USE A REAL SCRAPER FOR DISHES AND PANS.
WHEN BATHING OR DOING DISHES TRY NOT TO KEEP YOUR HANDS IN THE WATER FOR TOO LONG. THE NAIL WILL SOAK UP WATER BUT THE TOP COAT WON'T....SO WHEN THE NAIL EXPANDS IT WILL CAUSE LIFTING.
REMOVE POLISH WITH NON-ACETONE POLISH REMOVER ONLY! ACETONE BASED POLISH REMOVER WILL BREAK DOWN ARTIFICIAL NAILS.
A GOOD RULE OF THUMB IS TO USE YOUR NAILS AS IF THE POLISH IS STILL WET! THIS WILL MAKE YOU USE OTHER PARTS OF YOUR HAND TO DO THINGS INSTEAD OF USING THE NAIL.
FIRST TIME NAIL WEARERS ARE NOT USED TO THE EXTRA LENGTH...SO I SUGGEST PAYING ATTENTION TO YOUR HANDS..WHEN REACHING FOR SOMETHING IT IS VERY EASY TO BANG THE NAIL AND BREAK IT. TRY TO KEEP FINGERS LIMBER, THIS MAY HELP.
WEARING RUBBER GLOVES WHEN USING CHEMICALS WILL PROTECT THEM AND HELP PREVENT STAINING AND DISCOLORATIONS AND OR BREAK DOWN THE ACRYLIC OR GEL AND YOUR NAILS WILL NOT LAST AS LONG AS THEY SHOULD.
WHEN USING A PHONE REMEMBER TO USE YOUR KNUCKLES, A PEN OR PENCIL OR ANYTHING BUT YOUR NAILS..THE PRESSURE WILL CAUSE LIFTING OR CAN BREAK THE NAILS.
NAIL DANGLES CAN GET SNAGGED AND YOU'LL LOSE IT! MAKE YOUR DANGLES A LITTLE MORE SECURE BY PUTTING A DOT OF CLEAR NAIL POLISH OR GLUE ON THE OPENING OF THE RING..THIS CREATES A SOLID CIRCLE AND YOUR DANGLE WON'T SLIP THROUGH THE OPENING.
WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD DID YOU EVER USE THE EASTER EGG DYE THAT YOU PUT DROPS ON TOP OF THE WATER AND SWISH THE EGGS THROUGH THE COLOR? THEY LOOKED LIKE SWIRLY TYE DYED COLORS. WELL YOU CAN CREATE THIS SAME LOOK ON YOUR NAILS..AND IT'S SOOO EASY!
GET A BIG BOWL OF WATER AND LAY DROPS OF ACRYLIC PAINT ON WATER...PUT PETROLEUM JELLY AROUND THE NAIL..NOT ON THE NAIL ONLY ON THE FINGER TO KEEP THE PAINT FROM STICKING TO THE FINGER....NOW SIMPLY SWIRL FINGER THROUGH THE PAINT UNTIL DESIRED DESIGN IS CREATED. LET DRY COMPLETELY THEN WASH OFF THE PETROLEUM JELLY AND APPLY TOP COAT TO SECURE NAIL ART ONTO NAIL. ADDING RHINESTONES, PEARLS, GLITTER OR OTHER NAIL ART WILL MAKE YOUR DESIGNS REALLY STAND OUT.
WHEN USING NAIL ART LIKE BRAIDING, LAZER STRIPS, ROPE, OR STRIPE TAPE TRY PUTTING RHINESTONES, PEARLS OR METAL STUDS ON THE EDGES TO CREATE A MORE SECURE WEARING. I ALSO SUGGEST CUTTING THE NAIL ART A LITTLE SHORT FROM THE EDGE OF THE NAIL TO PREVENT IT FROM SNAGGING AND LIFTING.
LEARN TO USE A NAIL FILE CORRECTLY AND PREVENT FRICTION BURNS AND PAINFUL DISCOMFORT
Use The
Full Length Of The File, this helps in doing filing correctly and also keeps
your nail file from having worn spots.
Hold
Your File At The Very End
Hold your file at the very end with your finger and thumb. Hold on securely
but gently enough to let it flow with the motions of filing.. Use your wrist
not your elbow when filing...this takes less energy and filing is more
effective.
LONG STROKES IN ONE DIRECTION AT A TIME
Always use long strokes in one directions...file, lift file, file again,
lift file....never go back and forth...so either do all strokes to the right
or to the left...you can switch but keep one direction going during the
filing...never back and forth!
Correct filing will be in an "X" on the
nail. File diagonally across or diagonally down the surface of the
nail. This is the correct way to file.
Do not file the "X" one side at a
time...go in one direction in long strokes then go in the other direction in
long strokes. Remember to use your wrist!
NEVER FILE GOING BACK AND FORTH...USE LONG STROKES INSTEAD
As
mentioned above you need to use then entire file when filing. Lay file
on nail do a long stroke the length of the file....lift file and
repeat the first step. Going back and forth will cause damage and get
minimal results. Going back and forth will also cause your hand to
ache and could even cause damage or trauma to the nail.
Keep
file flat .....Don't Angle Your File
Never angle your file. Keep file flat against the nail when filing. If
you angle the file you will use the edge of the file and create cuts, dips,
and ridges in the nail....all your filing work will be for nothing if this
happens since now your nails will no longer be smooth.
If you have had your nail polish for a long period of time it may become thick and or clumpy. Add a couple drops of nail polish thinner. Shake well, let set for a few minutes to let the thinner break down the clumps, then shake well again. If this doesn't work treat yourself to a new bottle.
Polish
flake off too soon? Not sticking to your nails?
If you
have the problem of your nail polish not sticking to your nails or chipping
off your nails too soon, well I have the solution…..Try cleaning your nails
with a cotton swab dipped in alchahol or vinegar to clean all oils, lotions,
crème, or any other contaminants that might be on your nails. By cleaning
your nails this way your polish will stay on longer and for those of you
with oily nails this might help to keep the polish on your nails a little
longer..
Top
coat helps get a smoother polished result…
Apply a
thin layer of clear or top coat before polishing nails. This will help
smooth out any ridges and it will protect your nails from staining with dark
nail polish.
Take
off excess from brush…
When you
pull out the nail polish brush make sure you wipe one side on the rim of the
bottle, this helps in two ways…1) you won’t have too much polish on the
brush and you have less drips….and 2) this will help prevent air bubbles.
Top
coat protects and refreshes…
Always
apply top coat to your nails after polishing or applying nail art. It helps
to hide any ridges or flaws and it helps secure the nail art onto nail.
Another good tip is to apply top coat to your nails every few days to
REFRESH the looks of the nail and prolong the beauty of your work a little
longer.
Nail
polish takes more than 2 minutes to dry….
Nail
polish will actually take about an hour to fully dry and set. If you need
to apply more than one coat wait at least 15 minutes between coats. If you
apply wet polish or top coat on top of one another the bottom layer does not
have time to dry and that means that your nails will take twice as long to
dry and there is more chance of nicks and smudges.
